HOW TO AGE GRACEFULLY WITH SMR WITH ANGIE MICHELLE

Are you afraid of aging? Do you feel disconnected from your body and feel as if you are losing control? In this workshop, we will look at the connection between the physical and energetic body and the role it plays in our lives every day. Fascia is the richest organ in the body and as we grow older, it can begin to feel extremely tight and can restrict range of motion. When we use SMR (Self Myofascial Release), it creates a viscous and hydrated fascia which increases blood flow and sends nutrients to the muscles.
In this 2 hour workshop, Angie will guide you in SMR and combine proper stretching techniques using yin yoga for optimal results. When you are mindful of your body and use gradual pressure, fibroblasts are stimulated to produce more tropocollagen, which forms new collagen and adds to the resting length of the existing fiber. This corrects imbalances and lengthens your muscles and most people feel an increase in mobility and flexibility after just one session. You will also learn different tools and techniques you can use at home to continue the journey in improving your body awareness and physical health.

CHANTING AND SOUND BATH

Join Sparrow Grace as she weaves mantras and chants with relaxed rootsy tunes. Both an accredited music therapist and 500 hr RYT, Sparrow began writing music and offering kirtan while on her first study trip to India in 2008 with her teacher Yogrishi Vishveketu. Since then, she has toured with Dave Stringer, Karnamrita Dasi, and performed with Jai Uttal, Shimshai and many others. Her passion for music and whole person health has her currently working at the University of Alberta Hospital offering music for healing at bedside. Kirtan is a devotional call-and-response group singing experience. From the tradition of Bhakti yoga, we sound together to create union of body-mind-heart-community and spirit. Are you looking to deepen your connection with your yoga community, your practice, and yourself? Interested in practicing more yoga, but finding cost a barrier? Come join the Buddha Belly karma yoga team and integrate the teachings of yoga on and off the mat by practicing the art of giving. The karma yoga program at Buddha Belly allows our participants to practice mindfulness through their actions, to connect with our growing community, and to deepen their personal practice. By volunteering a few short hours of your time during the week, you can help infuse the studio with your energy and make it a sanctuary for all. Our facility features two large yoga studios, both with heating capabilities for a variety of hot yoga, warm yoga, and non-heated yoga. We have created a soothing and healing environment with our color therapy lighting. We also have a treatment room where we provide massage and Reiki. At Buddha Belly you will also find a client lounge for relaxing before and after class, a metaphysical retail boutique, the Buddha Belly tea bar, and two change rooms with a full set of amenities including lockers and showers.
Our metaphysical boutique features a wide variety of products ranging from jewelry, home decor, spiritual supplies, and our own line of aromatherapy products and essential oils. The Buddha Belly tea bar is open to clients throughout the day and our exclusive line of delicious teas are available for purchase.
